The room in the back. None of the remaining 8 of the original 16 would go back there unless alone or, for Jade not alone. It held memories. And sadness.
In the very back on the house they were currently living in, sat a memorial to all who they had lost. The troll side, of course, was bigger. The lost lusi and the seven lost ones took up most of the room. Then there was the humans' side. One lost from the original four and the guardians. That's what the room was. There was a painted picture for each lost soul that hung on the wall and under it, a rock stating who they were, how they were lost, when they were, and what day they were born if it was supplied. Dave and John had spent hours carving the rocks for the lost ones.
As sad as they were, their lives did go on. The trolls hit puberty a half of a sweep into the new world and they grew quickly, filling out before that sweep was over. The females first then, of course, the males. Gamzee was the tallest and Karkat the shortest of the males and Terezi was just a hint taller than Kanaya. The humans followed slowly, as humans do.
The five remaining trolls, being nocturnal, stayed in the basement or lower floors of the house during the day so they could sleep. The three humans stayed higher in the house so not to wake the trolls. During the night, they swapped. The humans kept a great garden going, and the trolls hunted during the night. But to one troll, something was missing. No, someone.

Terezi sat by Nepeta's picture and took her glasses off. She set them on the floor, leaving them there since she saw no reason to wear them while crying, and wiped her eyes. "I miss you Nepeta," she said softly lifting her head up at her picture. Her teal tears streaked her cheeks and dripped onto her shirt, although they were concealed by the blackness of it.
Her best friend had been killed. Or at least the closest thing she had to one. And yet, the killer got off scot-free! If it wasn't for the fact he was her matesprit's moirail, she might have brought it into her own hands. She buried her face in her hands and broke into quiet sobs, so not  to wake the others.
"Why you? You were so innocent. You were just upset he killed your mewrail," she said softly lifting her head up to look at the picture. In her sadness, she used the word Nepeta would have. She still couldn't see of course, but none the less, she could still smell. She laid her head back in her hands and cried again.
Next to Nepeta's smiling and cute picture was Equius's and then Pounce de Leon's. Equius looked as he normally did, but with unbroken shades and his full teeth. Pounce de Leon was standing protectively above a wiggler Nepeta with her two mouths smiling. Karkat wiped his eyes as he walked into the room, seeing his matesprit crying. He sighed and went over to her slowly.
"Go away Karkat!" she hissed in an upset tone that was still quiet. Karkat knew she was upset because she didn't call him Karkles. He walked over and wiped her teal tears away and sat next to her.
"I'm not leaving you alone," he said quietly instead of his normal obnoxious tone.
"Fine, stay here," she said not in the mood to fight with him or anyone except the murderer in the house.
"Why aren't you in the human sleeping device we share anyways?" he asked, unable to call it a bed still. She wiped away a few tears and lifted her head back up to look at Nepeta's picture.
"I-I couldn't sleep. I had dreams about her. Well not really dreams, more nightmares. Not in the dream bubble like normal. I just kept seeing G-that monster kill her," she said softly turning her head in his direction. He put a soft hand on her back and pulled her close so her head was resting on his shoulder.
"I miss her too. Don't worry, we'll see her again when we sleep," Karkat whispered wiping a few red tears from his own eyes with his sleeve. She tilted her head so she looked to be looking at him and sighed.
"But we won't actually see her outside of our dreams," she whimpered. closing her eyes. She buried her face in his shoulder and cried softly, teal snot and tears staining his white sleep shirt.
"It's ok Terezi. We still have the dream bubbles.," he tried as he patted her back. She sniffled a response as Dave opened the door. Upon seeing the crying Terezi, he immediately shut the door and walked over, sitting beside her opposite Karkat. He stroked her hair and looked up at the picture in front of them.
"D-Dave," she said softly raising her head up. He removed his glasses and set them next to  hers. She put her head on his shoulder and he stroked her hair as Karkat shifted and pulled her body onto his lap.  Karkat stroked her back as Dave stroked her hair and the troll with teal blood sobbed so quietly into Dave's shoulder. Dave had originally gone to mourn his bro but seeing Terezi like this… He couldn't let that asshole be the only one to console her.
For the longest time they sat, uninterrupted by anyone else. The other trolls were asleep and the two others knew where Dave was going. Then, the door creaked slowly open. The troll who's makeup could not conceal his scars stood in the doorway. As Terezi noted his smell, her head shot up. She grabbed her glasses and wiped away her tears. In seconds she was on her feet in front of him, finger poking his chest.
"YOU! You-you monster! You're the one who did this!" she yelled, new tears running down her cheeks as she grasped her glasses with her other hand. The clown frowned and looked down at her.
"Not like I did it on purpose man-" he said his voice making it clear he had found something to get high off of.
"Yes you did! You killed Equius and then when she tried to save her moirail, you killed Nepeta!" she cried as Karkat stood and put a firm hand on her shoulder.
"Terezi,-"
"Shut up Karkat! You should have let us kill this murderer! This monster killed Nepeta and Equius! He should be dead too!" she cried, as Dave slipped on his glasses. He stood and pulled Terezi into a hug from behind.
"Terezi, it's ok, come on, let's get you to bed," he whispered leading her to Karkat and her own respite block. She yelled curses at the clown as she was lead away and Karkat looked up at him.
"Yo, man, I was-"
"Don't start Gamzee. I'm not in the fucking mood to talk," he growled, voice picking up his normal tone before he rushed after Terezi and Dave, leaving to clown alone in the room. He looked at the pictures of the two he had murdered and then to his feet before he started off to his own respite block, twin trails of light violet streaking his cheeks.
Set about 6 years (or almost 3 sweeps) in the future from the point where John, Dave, and Jade are the only remaining humans because Rose is taking the suicide mission. Karkat, Terezi, Gamzee, Kanaya, and Sollux are the remaining trolls. Aradia is in God Tier form in space in the comic so she’s not in this. So, enjoy. I would like some kind of feedback, please. I don’t own Homestuck just this story. I wrote this before the update but forgot to upload it, so enjoy pre-upload fan fictions.
